Historic Park Clock appeal

BrixtonBuzz reports that the Friends of Brockwell Park are currently trying to raise £20,000 to repair the Brockwell Park Clock Tower, and are within touching distance of their target.

The Clock and its Tower ‘Little Ben‘ were donated to Brockwell Park in 1897 by local MP, Charles Ernest Tritton, in honour of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, but after a hundred years it stopped.

Now Friends of Brockwell Park want to repair and restore the clock and its tower. The proposed clock repair will restore the original mechanism to full working order. The clock tower will be shot-blasted, fully repaired, cleaned, painted and the finials and bezels will have new gold leaf. The works, including a new small flower bed round the tower base, will cost about £20,000.
