Local Greens, a non profit organisation run by enthusiastic residents of Herne Hill, has been featured in the Indepedent today as one of the top ten UK vegetable box suppliers. They provide the local area with great tasting, seasonal veg from small organic or spray-free farms, which are as near to SE London as they can find. The closest farm is less than eleven miles away.
They have collection points in Herne Hill, East Dulwich, Dulwich, West Dulwich, Brixton, Camberwell, West Norwood, and Crystal Palace, and hope to be adding more soon.
The Independent says that customers who join this not-for-profit scheme get to pick up a weekly vegetable bag from one of fifteen local collection points in south-east London. Contents are always seasonal, interesting and affordable. Meanwhile, the farmers, of which there are five, get a fair deal. Prices start at £7.50.
