Unfortunately, there’s no shortage of people who like to dump their old furniture on to the streets of London, often in the dead of night.
Here’s a short selection of images compiled over the past nine months showing the kind of crap that gets left in the streets of Brixton. Above is a mattress left on Coldharbour Lane last month.

Beyond a joke
It’s not just individual beds and sofas that get dumped – sometimes residential areas can become the target for flytippers with wagon-loads of the things.
Earlier this year, the council’s refusal to do anything about the growing mountain of mattresses and bed units that had piled up in Doverfield Rd (off Brixton Hill) quite rightly infuriated residents.

If you need to dispose of some bulky items, don’t be a bastardo and dump them in the street – either use the council’s bulky waste collection service (£20 for four items) or take then to the two nearest tips:
