Lambeth ‘Cooperative’ Parks

As part of the Lambeth’s move towards being a ‘Cooperative’ Council, their parks department is asking if you would like to be more involved in the running of the borough’s green spaces…

We have traditionally managed and maintained our parks and open spaces – from cutting the grass to collecting the litter – but now as a Cooperative Council we have changed our focus to supporting residents who want to have more say in what we do and spend money on.

We have proposed three ways in which residents might become more involved, based on conversations with communities over the last year.

    These include:

    • Council-led management
    • Cooperative management
    • Community-led management

This might mean that a group of residents could be managing a local park or a part of a park (e.g. a football pitch or formal gardens), either independently or jointly with us.

More information on ‘cooperative management’ can be found in the Cooperative Parks information booklet.

    Next Steps

Before we do anything, we want to know what you think, therefore we’re inviting you to complete our long online questionnaire or our short questionnaire. We look forward to hearing your views on designing and delivering a thriving parks service for everyone.
